Walking The Most Dangerous Path In Britain
The Broomway is surrounded on both sides by quicksand and deep, sucking mud. It has no markers and no guideposts. And if you mistime your walk, you won't outrun the tide. Oh, and it's in the middle of a Ministry of Defence firing range. But most of the time, if you want to visit Foulness Island, it's the only way.

Meanwhile, in an alternate universe, an irresponsible version of me with a goatee is making a spectacular video that involves trying to outrace the tide on a motorbike, then getting arrested by military police.
You’ve obviously never been to the Romney Marsh!
As you get arrested, you're probably yelling about how you're a sovereign citizen and so the law doesn't apply to you.
Come on Tom! Grow that goatee!
@Aquatic Sans No kidding
That would be rather interesting 🧐
Two Toms and a camera walk down a path.
0:05 ~ Any pots of gold at the base of that thing?
Someone should take a Sherp ATV there ahahah
Someone should take a sherp out there I'm interested how this would go
Been there it’s a shithole like the rest of UK ranges 😂😂😂
Thank god you a had a mountain leader with you
Fascinating
I'd wonder if I was walking over any buried bodies
Video in less then 3 sentences? Don't want to watch
The fact the locals don’t want people around makes me want to go there and knock and every single door
I live about 20 minutes from here
You'd get picked up my MoDplod, not soldiers. Most firing ranges are civilian sites I think, except for the ones they use for training.
The guide sounds like Bear Grilles
Last time I was there I met a group of Russian Soldiers having a picnic.
When I feel down and alone, Tom Scott gives me warmth and happiness
We've got the same sort of thing over our side of the thames with 2 or 3 forts along the MOD coastline. From higham to grain. And used to be used mostly for grenade testing. And there's MOD land in chattenden which is great derelict land to wander round
Next video: "I am here in the leader hall in North Korea."
To answer the elephant in the room yes you can ride on a hovercraft across the path.
The British and their public footpaths
Bro.... I grew up just round the corner from there....... If you are a total idiot that has no idea about the tides its dangerous as fk! If you are a Local shall we say... its the same as walking the streets of london, and i have lived there to... far far more dangerous place! You don't even need to walk anywhere to get into life threatening danger!
OMFG 60 -100 casulties!! FULL WORLD WIDE LOCKDOWN NOW!!! SAVE LIVES, ROT IN YOUR HOUSE!
I cant tell if this guy is in is 20’s or if he’s 50
Next video; swept to skandinavia... Hi guys im here with Ragnor Lothbrok drinking ale from curved horns... how the gods welcomed me
The broomway is a byway so all types of access are allowed I plan on riding it one day.
Definitely the road less travelled huh? ✌😎
I'm 100% certified to walk on paths if I wasn't I wouldn't be walking on paths. So English
Never walked down my street at night then.
Comrade
day 7, I'm currently in hong kong.
British military: “can’t use this bridge it’s ours” Also British military: “however we do have this firing range”
How long is the walk and how long does it take assuming you do it right. ?
I know where I'm taking my motorbike next
Have you seen in old graveyards a skull and crossbones engraved in the stone? Do you know why?
My pal crashed his sailing boat into foulness in the fog, pissed as a fart a few years back,The authorities were none too impressed with him. Also In my younger days I did a bit of walking and hiking,I remember once walking across Salisbury plain and noticing that all the signs warning you of the possible danger of ammo hurtling around had been shot and blown to bits😀.
I spent 7 years working on Foulness, it was a rare day that the wind wasn't blowing like that.
NZers climbing mountains.... Australians beating deserts..... South Africans hunting elephants and lions. The poms walk across a mud flat
Poms do all of those mentioned, plus trekking mud flats. Australians don’t beat deserts much regardless, too busy ragging abos
This is great. Worked as a graduate oceanographer on Foulness and abandoned a research quad more than once in the sands. Had to tie a buoy to it, run for dry land and retrieve the motor at high tide with a boat.
We need this back on our TV & would make more people pay 4 there tv license!!!🤣🤣🤣
“Do not approach or touch any object or debris it may explode and kill you” Rather straight to the point isn’t it?
Next time "I'm here in the Mariana trench about to fist fight a giant squid"
Looks no more dangerous than walking down a high street of any number of non-native populated towns in England.
I can legally travel to Afghanistan. But I won't.
Did I just find a new favorite Channel
Ah quicksand.. I knew we would meet eventually
"I'm a qualified mountain leader" You sure mate? You're on a fecking beach
Naya Rivera
Where did you walk. Tottenham
Sealand next?
So .... some more "Fields We Hate" and bomb/blow-up "Because" ...
Hold on, how did you get permission to travel that far during a lockdown?
“I’m here in the Mariana Trench”
Downing Street
Brooms were swept away 🤣

Say England, Scotland, Wales or Ireland , not Britain, that doesn't exist anymore
You would need an Argo to take that path
I was very lucky to do the charity bike ride, so rode over the bridge and did about 3 circuits of the island. I recommend it. Craaaaazy head winds though.
Bet they bummed
That'll do a great Grand Tour episode
Fascinating!
I still think any path in Moss Side is a strong contender.
Thanks Tom.
I just want to say, aside from the really informative and cool video, amazing equipment setup that has brilliant wind cancelling!
Wear a target next time, more sportsman like?
That place reminds me of death stranding. Sorta like the beaches
ok i get it, your a bloody an amazing guy who can walk safely over sand, gees stfu already, and btw TRUMP I LOVE YOU, TRUMP TRUMP TRUMP FOUR MORE YEARS
You're welcome Tom
10 Things you cannot talk about on british new channels : 1) colonisation 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10) slavery What you can talk about : "BUT BUT BUT WE GIVE YOU TRAINS>>>>"
could you drive it with a specialized 4X4? (and is it legal?)
Doesn't look like East London to me...
It's next to southend on sea
My mum sent me a video of yours and now im obsessed with your vids
Can confirm I tried to go there once and was turned away
don't worry Tom, they won't arrest you. They'll just make you take the road back... without the guide :)
The idiotic xylophone revealingly trip because flame aesthetically paint beside a old-fashioned missile. unknown, ten age
Those brooms were swept away, you say? 😁
The name sounds like a section of Hollownest.
Awesome!
Definitely a hand held GPS and 25,000 magnification OS map (or nautical chart) scenario.
Welcome to another episode of something you never thought you wanted to know but you find so interesting...
Drive the broomway? Why hasn't top gear done this?
Wait... did you make it back? :O
This is the IT security guy from Computerphile right?
There are still water broom ways elsewhere in the UK that are still marked daily.
And this is about half as dangerous as Florida, that’s bloody insane
I wanna go there!!!
'I am here, legally. And that's because I came in a hovercraft pub.'
its weird that the MOD can just claim an island and then tell the population of said island they can stay but they cant use the bridges they built to get in and out
Nobody talking about the fact that the guide is named Tom as well
That's great I would love to visit.
Most dangerous path? Southern wimps! At least you can swim out of danger, if you can swim - and if you can't you shouldn't be risking it. Get up to the Peak District and we'll show you dangerous paths, where if you slip off the least of your problems will be a broken back.
I'm taking an amphibious car to the island
How tf would you know its a broom?
The guide sounds similar to Bear Grylls
During the late 80’s I worked for the MoD on Foulness,; the bridge was built after they lost a couple of tanks on the ‘Brromway’, it was deemed cheaper to spend a couple of million pounds on fixed crossing than lose more main battle tanks to the tide!
Lemme ask which mountains he's leading in Britian.
The beach so dangerous you need a mountain leader to cross
Tom, it isnt very nice of you to shoot a child and dump his body in to the sea just to show how dangerous it is.
Shoutout to Michelle and Graham video editing and audio mixing this vid! It hid the edits to Tom #2's talking so it flowed almost as seemless and natural as Tom #1! (Having hidden edits this way myself) it was textbook 😃
I have no idea what you are talking about.
Not far from where I live!I live in Southend.
Is it just me, or did this video end before it started?
