Kings and Generals animated historical documentary series on the historical biographies continues with a video on life and adventures of the British captain and admiral Thomas Cochrane. He took part in the Napoleonic Wars, famously winning the battle of Basque Roads, and then participated in the liberation of Chile and Peru from the Spanish rule, Brazil from the Portuguese and Greece from the Ottoman empire, which made him one of the most interesting people of the XIX century and one of the craziest captains in history.

      German RodriguezGerman Rodriguez5 dagen geleden
    • @German Rodriguez even though recognizing he's Argentinian is important, along with Bolivar O'Higgins and a few others he was instrumental in liberating South America so for me he's Latino first Argentinian second.

  • How in the hell did no one made a TV series or a real movie on his guy?. ULTIMATE WARROR BADASS. I am surprised that any vessel remain afloat with him onboard with the weight of his cast iron balls. The 869 thumbs down must have been the dependents of the prisoners that Cochrane captured.

  • One of the most underrated historian figure of all time. Cochrane deserves so much more recognition! The things he have achieved were Impossible and somehow he would always come on top. The British disowned their greatest weapon in 18th century. Imagine what Great Britain could have achieved with Cochrane. It's a shame he was treated so poorly. Btw his son was mad lad too 🤣

  • Hi, thx for the good video. I'm only at 21:00 minutes, but it's really awesome ;) For those who search why french navy were so bad, there is a simple explanation. They thought naval fight light land fight and prefer slower less agile ship and put lot more canons. So they were big easy target with most crew with no real sea experience like english have. If you want to see french good sea fight, you have to look at corsair, which a french mercenary agile ships with good crew, like the ones from St Malo.

  • As a student of history, I'm flabbergasted that I've never heard or read the extent of his exploits. Rescuing that dog cements him in my mind as a real life superhero. While Master and Commander and Horatio Hornblower are good stories, they don't do him justice. Why has there never been a mini-series on his life? I would pay money to watch something like that. Just amazing.
