  • @NASASpaceflight - Love the videos !! - If you are looking for the next snazzy thing to do with editing to make them even more fun and informative, I have an idea.... I watch Tesla GigaTexas drone videos all of the time and love them: I know that facility like the back of my hand, but no matter how many videos I watch of the SpaceX Boca Chica construction, it is still hard to keep track of where the different camera angles are and how the facilities relate. I know there is aerial footage, but that doesn't help connect the view in these video with the shots looking down from the plane, so here is the idea: If the community can build and maintain a simple 3D model of Boca Chica in Blender or Unity, you can create virtual drone hops between scenes in these videos. For example, you would show video of High Bay activity for several seconds, then when it is time to change scenes, you switch to the Unity 3D model view of the High Bay from the same camera angle and pretend to be a drone lifting off and flying to the SN15 launch mount area, land, and switch back to the next video scene from a matching camera angle. Your videos would turn into virtual drone flights hopping around the map in simplified 3D, then landing and showing real footage that was collected by Boca Chica Gal or others. That would create a level of continuity that would turn a collection of camera views into a coherent place. Sort of an Augmented Reality drone video. I think that would be awesome to see !! Once a common 3D model is built, you can use it to show all kinds of proposed site changes as the community speculates on the next area of construction. Just a thought.

    • It's a 'stress' tester. The frame and inside the nosecone, they have hydraulic presses to simulate MAXQ and launch pressures. This is similar to what they do with jet planes. Cycles many times to look for weaknesses in the structure. Part of FAA Human Flight requirements.

You've got the tower built (to the first segment) and then not built but you put a small note saying tower work continues yet earlier in the video it was well past that stage. Come on guys, observe, record and report, dont be manipulating the footage.

If they pull that off, then immortalise it at the production site, with a special stand and plaque near the back (They would have to remove the engines and a few other 'sensitive' items of course. Maybe some statement like 'This is the Rocket that turned the Space Industry on it's head.'

  • As a long time follower of the SpaceX Starship project and super excited about test flight tomorrow as always and the epic integration tower and launch facilities work etc. I do at the same time worry about how the global economic situation may ultimately impact this whole project? Does anyone else share same concern? My worry comes from the high inflation rate of commodities such as steel, and other input costs increasing too, while capital is being targeted for tax increases too at same time, and all of these economic factors seem to be intensifying. Elon's Starship and Starlink projects are so capital intensive at this early stage I wonder is he in a race against time to get them both over the line and making returns on all upfront investments? This is not criticism or anything, I love Elon Musk's ambition and the soaring potential of Starship, just anxious about economic factors beyond his control as I see truck after truck delivering to Starbase! Fingers crossed my anxieties are for nothing, and fingers and toes crossed for successful test and landing for SN15! :)

      Iosaf BennisIosaf Bennis6 dagen geleden
    • Due to shortages in electronic components, car makers have to stop or reduce production. That will reduce the demand for steel and drive the price down. Good news for SpaceX (bad news for Tesla).
