Brundle nearly sends Rosberg into a 2nd retirement

Brundle and Simon remind Rosberg of the Monaco incident in 2014 when Nico went down the escape road which brought out yellow flags, ultimately meaning Hamilton couldn't improve his lap time
This comes after qualifying at the 2019 Italian Grand Prix when Leclerc seemingly did not give Vettel a pre-agreed tow
If I don't upload as much in the coming weeks it's because I'm approaching a period of my Uni year where most of my assignments are due so I'll be focusing on those

  • Nico was just good on that track. 3 wins there on the trot... No evidence to suggest Lewis would have got pole even if he had finished the lap. There is always a conspiracy when Lewis doesn't get his way, his fan club aren't any better...sad

  • I think this was a bit disrespectful from Martin. As fans we can speculate whether he did it on purpose or not, it’s part of the fun. Nico has always insisted he genuinely made a mistake (at Mirabeau) so who is MB to call him out on TV several years later. They’re meant to be colleagues??

  • We all know he did it on purpose. He got away with it because up to that point his career hadn’t been controversial. But Rosberg followed with further sabotages is Malaysia Quali 2015, Spa lap two 2014, Spain lap one 2016, final lap Austria 2016. It was the Monegasque/German/Finn’s way of getting into Hamilton’s head given he couldn’t win in a straight fight. But his career is scarred from it.

  • That’s better then when he ran Lewis off the track on the first lap and made them both crash out and after he said “I was in the wrong engine settings and it was my race to win”

  • If 4 times WDC can lose his car at 20mph while leading in his home GP. What Rosberg did wasn't mindblowing. Mistakes do happen and telemetry proved he didn't do anything wrong and was just like the same lap before him. Cry is free for many people.

  • Honestly if I was Nico this would bother me a bit. All he’s done in hours career and being the only person who ever even took a fight to Lewis let alone won, people way overly focus on that moment. There are so many examples of Lewis being a cheeky bugger both on Saturdays and Sunday’s, in fact the same could be said for most drivers who were fighting at the top, so at some point itd get old to constantly hear about

    • 💯agree with you. Nico was an underrated driver. In there first 2 seasons together at Mercedes he out qualified Lewis more times than not. Which is Lewis’s strong point. Lewis is the better driver but on fractionally a few tenths here and there. Only Alonso has been as close.

    • Nico beat Michael when Michael was just sunday driving for his love for the sport in his old days. He wasn't there to achieve anything at that point. As for Lewis, we all know who was better. 2017 Hamilton would've crushed Nico. Nico had his chance in 2016 beating Lewis and he took that but I wouldn't call that 'beating Lewis'. Nothing against Nico, I just feel like he shouldn't have as many championships as Kimi for example. But life is unfair I guess.

      Vokhaon37Vokhaon3716 dagen geleden
    • @bbb ccc Rosberg won his title due to better car reliability pure and simple. To think had Hamiltons car not broke down in Malaysia while he was miles ahead in the lead he'd have won the championship that year. Thats racing though and luck fell on Rosbergs side. Anyway dosent matter now, Hamilton has 7 world titles, more race wins and more poles than any other driver. Rosberg bottled it and retired knowing his title was down to luck. Hamilton the GOAT.

      Karl87Karl8716 dagen geleden
    • @atletico ATM so by that point we can discredit Niki Lauda's title in 1984 since he won 5 races compared to 7 of Prost. But I bet you wouldn't do that and you would praise him since its Niki after all and he is a legend. Points masked over entire season determine a champion doesn't matter how many races you won. Nico was consistent and nobody but Lewis was at fault for all of his poor starts. Nico led the championship for like 16 races that season. Yes he is a worthy champion. People act like Nico won 6 races and Lewis 10 but Lewis only won a race more than him and that was in Austria where he had a crash with Nico and Nico suffered damage droping to 4th which left Lewis cruise to victory. Luckiest guy in the sport. And how do you explain 6 fastest laps of Rosberg compared to measly 2 of Lewis that season.Nico was faster on certain occasions but he was way more consistent in his performances. By the way Nico possibly let Lewis win those 4 final races since he could have won alot more races that season but he knew after Suzuka he only needed 2nd places for the title so he stayed there and played it safe. People forget all those 2nd places at the end of the season wasn't Lewis beating Nico but Nico's strategy and it played out perfectly. He knew Lewis will try everything and it will result in a crash and we saw when he tried to slow him down at Abu Dhabi so Rosberg chose to stay behind him for the final 4 races which was enough and honestly the right decision since hes got a driving title now

  • Context (Wikipedia - 2014 Monaco Grand Prix): “After the final session's first runs, Rosberg had provisional pole position with a lap of 1 minute, 15.989 seconds, 0.039 seconds faster than Hamilton. During his second and final quick lap, Rosberg locked his tyres, ran deep at Mirabeau corner and had to abort his lap, before reversing back onto the track. The resulting yellow flags forced Hamilton to slow, ruining his final qualifying lap (after he had set a personal best first sector), and stopped him from challenging Rosberg's earlier time.”

  • The 'data' (telemetry), will just show he was too heavy on the brake pedal and locked the inside right, you can easily do that on purpose (whilst also pretending to make the corner with hundreds of tiny adjustments on the wheel). I think in ten years he'll come clean (everyone knows it was intentional). At the end of day he got away with it, and whilst he's cultivating a online personality thing it's not worth admitting you're a cheat. But to be honest, I don't begrudge him for it, he dug deep, threw every trick (including this dirty one), and two years later he beat Lewis. I'd take a Nico doing whatever he can to Valtteri offering little to nothing when it comes to pushing Lewis.

    • @Jacques Potgieter I honestly don't think many people think any less of him for doing it, this was the building of a very enjoyable rivalry. Obviously, it's not in the spirit of the sport, but then that what's makes it exciting. I can't see Bottas pulling the same stunt, and I can understand why Nico is still trying to deny it.
